Curate Performing Arts Academy Curriculum
Developing Well-Rounded Young Performers
At CPAA, we believe that a true performer is versatile, confident, and skilled in multiple disciplines. Our curriculum blends theatre, dance, music, and vocal performance into a single, cohesive program. Through this approach, students gain hands-on experience in all aspects of performing arts while working toward full-scale productions.
Our year-long program is divided into four quarters, each designed to build on the previous one, culminating in a year-end musical production.
Curriculum Structure
-
August – October
Focus: Core skills in acting, movement, and music
Activities: Improvisation, basic choreography, vocal training, scene work
Performance: Individual Class Showcases (October)
In the first quarter, students develop fundamental skills in storytelling, body awareness, stage presence, and voice projection. This period includes team-building exercises, theatre games, and introductory scene work to foster confidence and collaboration.
-
October – December
Focus: Developing expressive characters through acting, dance, and song
Activities: Monologue work, choreography for storytelling, ensemble singing
Performance: Group Showcase (December)

Activities: Staging, blocking, full ensemble rehearsals, technical elements
Performance: Dress Rehearsals & Preview Show (March)
This quarter shifts to full production mode. Students rehearse their roles, refine choreography and musical numbers, and work with props and costumes. They also begin incorporating lighting, staging, and set pieces into their rehearsals.
-
April – May
Focus: Final rehearsals and performances
Activities: Run-throughs, tech rehearsals, polishing performances
Performance: Final Musical (May 6-8, 2026)
The final quarter is dedicated to bringing everything together—vocals, choreography, acting, and technical production. Students perform in a full-scale musical in front of live audiences, showcasing the skills they have built throughout the year.
